2. How soon can I get an appointment? An evaluation appointment normally can be scheduled within a week after you contact our office. If treatment is indicated diagnostic records can be obtained at that visit. Within a week after that appointment the braces can be placed. 3.
Do braces hurt and will I have problems
eating? There is some discomfort for a few days after
the braces are placed and when adjustments are made. Usually aspirin or
Tylenol will relieve whatever discomfort you experience. To prevent the
discomfort of broken or loose appliances, there are certain foods you
will want to avoid. Chewy, sticky foods like gum and candy can break the
appliances and delay progress of treatment. 5. When should an orthodontist see a child? The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that an orthodontist evaluate a child by the age of seven. 6.
Do teeth shift after wearing braces?
Teeth do have a tendency to shift. Dr. Davis provides clear retainers
that are hardly visible to the eye, as well as the conventional Hawley
retainer with the traditional metal wire across the front of the teeth.
The wire retainers should be worn full time after the braces are removed
for approximately eight weeks and then nighttime only. Retainers are the
only insurance that you will keep your beautiful smile the rest of your
life. |
